Editor,

Slow speed trains are 19th century technology and are considered as obsolete as a landline phone. Tying AI and using it as an excuse for a near billion dollars to do a retrofitting is like spending a million to retrofit a home toilet. The money is not worth spending. Cut the train entirely and cut the high-speed rail project money grabs while we have a chance We are fine traveling developing nation-style. Stop wasting taxpayers’ money.

Trains are history - autonomous driving is the future because it provides hassle free door to door travel to multiple destinations.

Well written, Mr. Peng. Let’s cut the taxpayer giveaway known as the union labor high-speed rail project. There is no need for high-speed rail because folks in the Bay Area can just hop on a plane if they want to head to Los Angeles, skipping the frequent traffic and potholes along Interstate 5. BTW, I doubt this train-to-nowhere will ever link SF and LA – not in our lifetime.
