Gov. Gavin Newsom and his fellow Democrats in the Legislature are steering California onto a unique political course with an unpredictable outcome.

By gerrymandering the state’s 52 congressional districts to produce at least five more Democratic members, they claim to be protecting democracy from President Donald Trump’s power grab. Trump is pressing Texas and other red states to rearrange their congressional districts to protect the paper-thin Republican congressional majority in next year’s elections.

Thanks for another informative column, Mr. Walters. It appears Newsom may have set off a country-wide redistricting fight. Reports are that Missouri is looking to update their redistricting maps with one estimated Republican seat added to counter Newsom’s anti-democratic actions. Let’s hope other states join the fight. Perhaps 20 to 30 more Republican representatives in Congress? And will this redistricting play by Newsom become known as Newsom’s Folly?

Isn't the bigger question why a governor, who proclaims to represent all Californians, intends to squeeze even more Democrat representatives out our turnip? It is pure evil and lunacy.

Yes, pure and evil lunacy! Thanks Dirk and Terence, as always.
