WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration on Friday reversed course and agreed to leave the Washington, D.C., police chief in control of the department, while Attorney General Pam Bondi, in a new memo, directed the District’s police to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement regardless of any city law.

The order from Bondi came after officials in the nation’s capital sued Friday to block President Donald Trump’s takeover of the Washington police. The night before, his administration had escalated its intervention into the city’s law enforcement by naming a federal official as the new emergency head of the department, essentially placing the police force under the full control of the federal government.

To the writers and editors, I have a question. Are you old enough to remember what real journalism is? Remember, in a time long long ago, when a reporter's role was to simply "report" the news to us, in an unbiased way? So that the author's personal beliefs are completely unknown. This article is a fantastic example that you (and most "journalists") seem to have forgotten this. You now pretend to be "journalists" when you are really simply political activists, who are currently onboard with the Democrat Party. Do you hire Conservatives? Do you have any Republicans on your staff? As an example, when your reporter states, "While Washington has grappled with spikes in violence and visible homelessness, the city’s homicide rate ranks below those of several other major U.S. cities, and the capital is not in the throes of the public safety collapse the Trump administration has portrayed." you simply reveal yourselves as a biased, and therefore corrupt, entity. That is not how "news" should be reported by an allegedly unbiased "news" source. When you quietly insert language like that, you are putting your hand on the scale, you are attempting to influence the reader to adopt YOUR point of view. Old school journalists know that is the WORST thing to do as a journalist to maintain credibility. I have news for you all in the news room, not all of what the Trump Administration is doing is bad. In fact, most of the country actually supports what they are doing. You may live in the Democrat stronghold bubble of the San Francisco Bay Area of California, but that does not give you the moral authority to engage in Democrat political propaganda, which is what most are doing in the mainstream, corporate newsrooms.

Thanks, DStahler, for your astute comment. In this case, this "news" report is from the Associated Press - basically a mouthpiece for the Democrats who will repeat Democrat talking points all day, every day, as long as Trump is on the political scene. Until the AP and other mainstream media shills for the Democrat party begin practicing real journalism, they'll continue to shed credibility, as well as readers. I wouldn't recommend anyone take the AP seriously. "New" media is doing a much better job of reporting facts and most people I know do not read from dedicated sources such as the AP or NYT or Washington (Amazon) Post.
