I’m supporting David Canepa because he actually shows up. You see him at events, in neighborhoods and talking to people directly. That matters more to me than political noise.
When someone is that visible, they are easier to hold accountable. You know who they are and what they stand for. That is especially important for a role connected to elections and public records.
At the end of the day, I want someone who is accessible and communicates openly. So, I’m choosing to vote for David Canepa.
No thanks, Mr. Schrader. You realize the job Canepa is running for doesn’t involve showing up in neighborhoods or talking to the masses. The job involves assessing, county clerking, and recording. Something for which Canepa has no experience. At the end of the day, I want someone who can do the job, or even understand the job, instead of someone schmoozing on taxpayer funds. Canepa brings nothing to the table and is a free-rider, but not free since Canepa is feeding at the taxpayer trough. Vote for Irizarry.
No Thanks, Terence Y. Irizarry has been running the County Offices to the detriment of the taxpayers and the budget for ten years and not following the State Manual. Under Irizarry, San Mateo County had the worst Audit of all the Bay Area Assessors. Irizarry had 5 serious areas of deficiency in the State Audit while surrouding counties had 0-2 deficiencies. Irizarry has busted the budget with a $50M database and millions of unnecessary overtime to perform basic office functions due to a bureacracy made of mazes and mollasses. Those of us who worked here with Slocum know the difference. Slocum had >50% women executives. Irizarry replced them with men and now has 0% through the top 2 layers of executives. The third level supervisors has less than 25% women. The three County offices are a wasteful mess and need change ASAP.
No thanks, guest[code to crack your phone?]. You don’t seem to understand (or choose not to understand even though you know better) that Irizarry is not currently in charge of the office, someone else is. And that someone else is currently responsible for all the allegations you’re making against Irizarry. I’d say it may rise to the level of libel.
Is desperation showing because you’re now bringing sexism into the argument? Are you saying women executives are better at executiving than men? What about merit and ability? Or is filling some imaginary quota more important than merit?
Again, the job involves assessing, county clerking, and recording. Something for which Canepa has no experience. At the end of the day, I want someone who can do the job, or even understand the job, instead of someone schmoozing on taxpayer funds. Canepa brings nothing to the table and is a free-rider, but not free since Canepa is feeding at the taxpayer trough. For a change, vote for Irizarry ASAP.

I worked under Slocum and Irizarry. Yes, Irizarry runs the office. The prior administration ran well. This one does not.
