Editor,
Hearing the ads for Proposition 50 it is very clear the reason behind it. When listening to the ads against Proposition 50, there is not a mention how Republican run states are changing the districts to favor the Republican Party without any concern for the voting population. So what gives?

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Krainz. You think Americans need to stop carrying the Constitution in our pockets and actually read it. I’d say that’s only part of the issue. Democrats need to read and most importantly, understand the Constitution. Perhaps they’ll then stop valuing criminals and terrorists over Americans. If Democrats are willing to trample on the Constitution, they’ll trample on anything and hope gullible voters allow them to. Vote NO on the threat to democracy known as Proposition 50.
And the identical move that is happening in the red states mentioned in the one page text of Prop 50 is NOT a threat to democracy?????????????????
Get real, “Terrence Y!” *Your* president started this fight, and you expect Democrats to simply roll over and surrender??? Or is Trump going to call in our military and use it against “internal enemies” as he threatened to do is his speech at Hegspeth’s generals meeting??? Trump is out of control - if Biden had been making these comments, you would have been outraged. The hypocrisy here is a mile deep!
Hey David - Trump says it, but Biden did it.
Very vague statement, Dirk. What are you talking about???
David - you may recall, or perhaps not, that Biden sent FBI agents to arrest law abiding abortion clinic protesters, and into catholic churches, and had his DOJ engage in outrageous lawfare. Biden said himself that MAGA was the biggest national security threat. That includes me and I was supposed to tremble in fear. That was copied by his dopey DOD secretary, the washed up Joint Chief, and the oblivious AG. Now, Trump is actually removing criminals from the streets. Chicago suffers at least one murder victim every day, and multiple shootings. Yet the fool, who calls himself a mayor, seems unaware and ignores that statistic. If you cannot tell the difference we have a problem.
I would like to hear more specifics where you think Dems are valuing criminals and terrorists over Americans. And interestingly enough, when you (and others) are saying we are taking the voice away from the people, this proposition (VOTE YES) passes, it is a vote of the people to empower our leaders to move forward on their plan to equalize our stance against the red army, or should we call it the orange army. Voting yes is the democracy that you mention, again where the people give the okay to the leaders to take action. THAT is democracy.
mmaylan, one can’t take “Terrence Y” seriously. He/she writes under a pseudonym and constantly repeats the same MAGA talking points with few or no references.
Some of these complaints stem from Democrats opposing Trump’s actions against Venezuela and Latin American immigrants. I found this quote from The Atlantic interesting as even some Republicans are now raising questions:
“Earl Matthews, a Pentagon lawyer, told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee during closed session last week that the designation of Tren de Aragua as a terrorist organization, coupled with Article II of the Constitution, which delineates the president’s powers, was all the legal justification that the administration needs for the strikes. (Matthews did not respond to a request for comment.) But even Republicans balked at his description, one official familiar with the meeting told us. Declaring a group a foreign terrorist organization is typically used to allow the U.S. to target financing and other support for such groups, not to legally justify launching strikes. Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky publicly rebuked Vance on X last month after the vice president described the killing of drug traffickers as “the best use of our military.”
“What a despicable and thoughtless sentiment it is to glorify killing someone without a trial,” Paul replied. Democratic Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island told us in a statement that “every American should be alarmed that their President has decided he can wage secret wars against anyone he calls an enemy.”“

I should add that just recently when talking to assembled U.S. generals, Trump mentioned using the military to go after “internal enemies.”
MAGA supporters endorse strong actions against these “narco-terrorists,” and there is a certain political “satisfaction” in seeing someone take this kind of strong action against a foe that has definitely caused harm to our country and its own people. However, to say that Democrats are “supporting terrorists” is twisting the narrative for political advantage. As the end of the quote above illustrates, the opponents of Trump’s action are not trying to support terrorists, **they are trying to save the rule of law** which is being eroded under Trump.
However when the MAGA side believes that the Democrats allowed the country to have gone to the dogs and that abrogating due process is the only way to save America, we are faced with a fundamental disagreement on which there is basically no room for compromise.
Taking over a country to save it from “enemies” has always been an authoritarian justification to seize power.
Attention class. Let’s review why “DavidKristofferrson” can’t be taken seriously. DavidKristofferrson, writing under a pseudonym, responds to another user’s pseudonym to complain about me using a pseudonym. Everyone on this site uses a pseudonym. Hilarious to the point of ridiculousness.
To push his desired narrative, DavidKristofferrson cherry-picks a left-wing biased Atlantic article's alleged Earl Matthews quote. I say alleged because closed committee sessions are not open to the public and there are no transcripts so how did The Atlantic get a quote. So did The Atlantic make up their quote? I wouldn’t be surprised. Remember The Atlantic went hog-wild pushing the Russian collusion narrative exposed as a hoax. Don’t trust what The Atlantic or any left-wing biased mainstream media writes.
Let’s not forget DavidK gives folks who spew carbon to their hearts’ desires get-out-of-jail-free passes as long as they talk the talk about believing in man-made climate change without ever walking the walk. So now we have DavidK giving get-out-of-jail-free cards to Antifa by attempting to sell the narrative that committing violent crimes against ICE is somehow saving the rule of law. Sorry DavidK, nobody’s buying what you’re selling. If one crosses the border illegally, they’re a criminal and they should be deported. Seems to me DavidK is attempting to justify breaking the rule of law more than saving the rule of law.
Methinks DavidK doesn’t realize it but he’s already under an authoritarian regime. The Trump Derangement Syndrome regime which believes in America Last. Fortunately, our (yes, our) great President Trump continues to put America First. Seems to me that Trump is doing such a great job with the help of his Cabinet that he is now attempting to make the world a peaceful place. I don’t know about others but I’m not tired of winning.
I should note that my name *is* David Kristofferson, and the only reason there is no space between my first and last name in my SMDJ handle is because adding a space would have cut off the last letter of my last name due to a software length limitation. I will also note that Ray Fowler, Dirk, and others all write under their real names, so “Terrence Y” is simply wrong on his assertion that everyone uses pseudonyms here.
As to the various “passes” that “Terrence Y” claims that I have given people/issues, as usual he takes statements that I have made and twists them into extremist positions so that he can then “score” debating points in his own mind. Those “pass” comments of his/hers are not worth a response because replies will just lead to more distortions ad infinitum.
I should note that YOU say your name is David Kristofferson but you could be anyone. Even if you submitted a picture ID in person at the SMDJ before you created your username, you can change their username as often as you desire. You’re assuming the names you claim are “real names.” If you’d like, I can change my username to Lucy Fuhr or Frank N. Stine or Kristoffer Davidson. But why does it matter? Our comments and viewpoints remain the same. This is another nothingburger distraction.
As for the various get-out-of-jail-free “passes” you’ve handed out, if you feel I’ve twisted your positions then stop with the feeble excuses and explain your POV. I don’t blame you if you don't since things haven’t worked out well for you in the past. So…please explain why it is okay for conference attendees to take 400+ private jets and who knows how many commercial jets to spew carbon to their hearts’ delights to attend, of all things, a climate conference to lecture everyone else on reducing their carbon emissions. I look forward to your response. Have a Trump-tastic day! Many in the world are. BTW, check out aninconvenientstudy.com.
Two for one…
I’ve gone over this numerous times, DavidKristofferrson. Texas’s redistricting is based upon a directive from the DOJ. Where is a directive from the DOJ that California is violating civil rights laws? There isn’t and yet Newsom and Democrats are attempting to irrationally rationalize sacrificing the opposition party in California in the name of party over people. There’s your threat to democracy. Since wannabe dictator Newsom started the redistricting war, we can only hope red states will join. As for hypocrisy running deep, you still haven’t explained why you give a pass to climate conference attendees taking 400+ private planes and who knows how many commercial planes to spew carbon to their hearts’ content while lecturing everyone else to reduce carbon emissions. The hypocrisy there is 250 miles deep!
Thanks, Mr. Maylan, for your request but everyone knows the Schumer Shutdown is because Dems want to provide healthcare and benefits to invaders to our country. Look to Portland and Chicago for evidence Dems are preventing ICE from capturing/deporting criminals and terrorists and removing them. And why are Dems are preventing their local police forces from providing mutual aid to law enforcement? More and more mainstream media outlets are calling out Dems for their America Last policies.
I would like to hear more specifics on why you think Dems are not valuing criminals and terrorists over Americans. And how you justify the violent rhetoric coming from Dems. I’d recommend you check YouTube for video on Trump’s roundtable on Antifa. THAT would explain how democracy is being threatened and why Dems are complicit. Along with word salad Kamala stealing the nomination. Where’s the democracy there? Vote NO on the threat to democracy known as Proposition 50.
“Texas’s redistricting is based upon a directive from the DOJ. Where is a directive from the DOJ that California is violating civil rights laws?”
Hahahahahahahahaha! Best joke that I have heard all day! If he/she really believes this then he/she is completely naive.
The bigger joke, all the time, is DavidKristofferson handing get-out-of-jail-free passes to folks who burn carbon to their hearts’ delight while lecturing others to reduce their carbon footprints. And to Democrats who put party over people in their threat to democracy known as Proposition 50. Sorry, DavidK, we can't ignore the hypocrisy. If he/she believes this then he/she is completely naive. If we looked in a picture dictionary under “hypocrisy” would we see your picture? Meanwhile, more power to Trump to continue RIFs as long as Democrats hold the country hostage for benefits to criminals rather than Americans.
