Editor,

Regarding “Blame Joe Biden” (letters, 10/23/25) — but of course. The malign and malevolent Mr. Biden is to blame for every catastrophe, disaster, misfortune, calamity, adversity and tragedy that befalls our nation for the next half century or so.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, Mr. Wright, and for forcing us into acknowledging that it’s not just Biden to blame. It is Obama and Biden and complicit Democrats who choose America Last policies instead of our (yes, our) great President Trump’s America First policies. And as usual, we see you’re trying to conflate legal with illegal folks. If we ignore your conflation and concentrate on those who’ve invaded our country, there’s no way that these folks commit less crimes than U.S. citizens. In fact, these folks commit crimes at 100% - because they illegally crossed the border. That’s not hard to understand, unless you choose to.

More power to Trump to clean up Democrat messes and to deport those who’ve crossed our border illegally. It is reported that over 2 million have left our country, by choice or via deportation. It is now time to begin holding employers, government and private, responsible should they employ those without proper authorization to be in America. Two million down, 18 million to go. I call on patriots to do your duty to assist law and order.

More power to Trump to hold state and local government responsible for enforcing the law. I hear Portland law enforcement has now cleaned out the Antifa encampment that was there for over 4 months. Perhaps the National Guard isn’t needed there anymore. Just like San Francisco caved to our (yes, our) great President Trump’s demands for SF law enforcement to begin doing their job. If not, Trump is happy to clean up their mess. However, SF’s issue with human waste on the streets is still SF’s responsibility.

The usual leftist take on immigrants who are an alleged blessing for our society. Brian, don't confuse immigrants with illegal migrants, please. You are insulting those of us who came here legally and did not demand free health care, education, housing and food stamps. Those tired and hungry that you refer to on the Statue of Liberty came here without any support. Should you be interested in what happened to many of them, read "The Jungle". Thousands went back to their country of origin. Contrary to your assertion that these migrants commit fewer crimes than the general population, please identify your source of that falsehood. Many were criminals in their own countries so what makes you think that they turned into choir boys once they came here? Check with the SMC Social Services and see what is really happening in some of those communities. You will be shocked and perhaps woken up.

I'll grant the point of conflating legal immigrants with illegal immigrants. But the illegal immigrants haven't demanded anything. Offering services is simply the humane thing to do for the majority of illegal immigrants who are working, having taxes withheld, and contributing to our economy. As I said, Trump has grossly exaggerated the criminality problem, and people are falling for it.

The problem with your logic, Mr. Wright, is that the folks you advocate for are criminals. You say illegal immigrants haven’t demanded anything yet they take advantage of services such as taxpayer funded health care and education, as well as taking things away from citizens such as jobs and housing, exacerbating unemployment and homelessness/lack of affordability. In addition, these folks have contributed to murder and mayhem and violence that wouldn’t otherwise have taken place had they not been here. Why didn’t the “majority of illegal immigrants” who are working here become legal and follow the law before they came here? Your Democrat overlords have grossly exaggerated the lack of criminality problem (because, again, they’re all criminals when they illegally cross the border) and little people Democrats are falling for it. More power to Trump to clean up Democrat messes and to deport those who’ve crossed our border illegally. I hear they're ramping up operations to deport higher numbers.

Terence - I am reading in the other Times that the Feds are beginning to audit their myriad programs for fraud and abuse. It was noted that when a person applies for these programs they are not asked about their legal status and are simply declared eligible. In Minnesota among a certain demographic in Omar's district, 44% of the cases are fraudulent, syphoning millions of dollars off to Somalia. Of course we have an issue with these dopey Dems in our own State thinking that illegals getting a driver license actually pay attention to any penalty associated with falsely claiming to be a legal resident and then are allowed to vote. Mind you, most of these illegals come from countries where laws are laughed and only serve to enrich officials with bribes so they bring that attitude with them. The motor voter law should be scrapped immediately. There is a lot of cleaning up to do.

Thanks for the info, Mr. van Ulden. Rumors are that Feds may soon hang out at weigh stations and agricultural check stations to verify commercial driver licenses in an attempt to counter Newsom’s handing out of CDL’s to illegals, some of who can’t read English, who go out and kill innocent drivers on our roads. We’ve heard two high profile cases on both the east and the west coast. I wonder if families of victims can sue Newsom. I sure hope so. Those payments would be something I can support as a California taxpayer.
