Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a statement late Saturday on the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
“It is a great relief that the President, First Lady and everyone in attendance at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is safe following a terrifying act of violence inside the venue,” said Pelosi, D-San Francisco.
Pelosi’s office didn’t immediately respond when asked if she was present at the dinner.
An armed man stormed the lobby at the event, which was attended by President Donald Trump and numerous dignitaries. A law enforcement officer was shot.
“The brave men and women of the United States Secret Service and local law enforcement are to be commended for their swift action to secure the scene and protect those present,” Pelosi said.
“As someone whose family has suffered political violence, my prayers are with the injured officer and all those affected by the trauma of these horrible incidents,” Pelosi said.
A 44-year-old Berkeley man was sentenced to life in prison for attacking the speaker’s husband, Paul Pelosi, with a hammer at the Pelosi home in San Francisco on Oct. 29, 2022.
Pelosi announced in November that she would not seek re-election to California’s 11th Congressional District.

Conspicuously absent from Pelosi or any person of influence, is a single shred of acknowledgment that the violent rhetoric from the left, to include Democrats and legacy news outlets, about Trump being a threat to Democracy/Hitler/Nazi/Devil, etc. etc. etc. But of course this is the single reason fragile individuals continue to believe they are acting righteously by assassinating health care CEO's, peaceful Conservative speakers, ramming ICE agents, or physically assaulting anyone on the right. Pelosi et al WANT there to be violence against their political opponents. There is no strategy to create or support better policies to win elections, they simply use violent rhetoric to de-humanize their opponents or they import millions of new voters to win elections. Not sure how so many in blue states continue to pull the lever for a party that is entirely modeled on this scheme.
Well written, DStahler. Does anyone seriously think Democrats will tone down their rhetoric or their hatred of America and President Trump? Some Democrats will toss out statements to appear as if they really care about the violence being perpetrated by gullible and easily manipulated Democrat followers but in a short time, they’ll resort to or tacitly endorse continuing their hate-mongering. Democrats don’t have policy positions or ways to help the American people and so all they have is rage and resistance to anything making America great again. What I worry about more is if those not on the left begin emulating the violent behavior from the left.
DStahler - I don't know that anything will change these people, because one has to first acknowledge their disorder and then consciously decide they need help, that the truth will set them free, even if it means watching or reading conservative media. That's a lot to ask for. However, I think the psychedelics they took earlier in life along with their consumption of the main stream's biased brainwashing lessons their chances of rehabilitation. Now we learn that Kristofferson leads a like minded sheep weekly gathering, another obstacle. The SMDJ allows these same lost souls to call Trump a rapist, see Jorg, when the editors should know what the left of left writers opine and are convinced of is false.
