Gavin Newsom jetted off to New York this week to portray himself as the alternative to Donald Trump on climate policy.

During a speech to the United Nations during Climate Week NYC on Tuesday, Trump declared anew that concerns about climate change are “the greatest con job ever perpetrated in the world,” chiding other nations for efforts to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.

"There’s no Elon Musk, there’s no Tesla, without California’s regulatory framework,” Newsom said.

That is true. BUT that regulatory framework (Million Dollar Roofs, Cap & Trade, Carbon limits) were all put in place by California's "greenest" Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger.

What have California Democrats achieved?

They ban e-bikes - the only real Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) that is actually usable in CA.

Keep on picking at Newsom, Mr. Walters. Pick, pick, pick. Why don't you call up Schwarzenegger and see if you can get him back.

Pay attention SMpool. You might learn something.

Ronald Reagan (R) gave us Bike Lanes (1967), George W. Bush (R) brought us the Low Speed Electric Bicycle (2002) and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger tied it all together with his Global Warming Act (2006) and his Complete Streets law (2008).

You might be just as surprised as I am, but neither BAAQMD, EPA, CAFE, CEQA, ADA, nor Cap & Trade, were given to Californians by Democrats. All these typical California things - basically State-defining laws - were signed by Republicans. No California Democrat comes even close to signing any comparable Landmark Laws.

On the contrary, ever since The Governator (R) gave us "green", Governor Gavin Newsom (D) and his Democrats have been trying to roll it all back. For example, Gavin Newsom has vetoed the Idaho Stop - which has made riding a bicycle safer in 12 US States and DC. PG&E - with Newsom's approval - is going hard after the people that bought into Arnold's Million Solar Roofs Initiative. And Governors Brown and Newsom have raised California's oil production several times. Now Governor Newsom is even bribing Big Oil - as if they really needed a bail-out.

Newsom is NOT green and he never was.

Google "Newsom and bicycle" and you find one or two photo-ops, he doesn't want helmet-hair.

Google "Schwarzenegger and bicycle" and you find hundreds of videos and photos of him riding around Malibu and never with a helmet - he knows that is a purely fictional safety device.

Thanks for another great column, Mr. Walters, highlighting the panderer and poseur that is Newsom. All of Newsom’s talking the talk but not walking the walk (except in the opposite direction) will be an albatross around his neck and follow him around like a puppy dog as he attempts to achieve higher office. In fact, I predict Newsom’s Democrat opponents will happily rehash Newsom’s pandering and lack of action. Would you want someone who continues violent rhetoric against ICE and law enforcement? Chameleon Newsom will happily point his violent rhetoric against you if it serves to benefit Newsom.
