One may not agree with the start U.S. involvement in Iran. However, that point is now moot. We are already there, so what now would be the alternative to us finishing the mission? Return the country to the regime that treats women as property? The regime that openly denounces homosexuality and will kill anyone found to be apart of the LGBTQ group? The regime that thinks dogs are evil? Do we just let them be and wait until they have a nuclear weapon? There is no perfect solution, but the one we choose should not include letting a society who has changed “Death to America” for generations to have nuclear capabilities.
Thanks for your letter, Mr. Guttenbeil, and for questions that Democrats cannot answer. For those afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome, their only positions are that if Trump, and America, is for it, Democrats are against it. Ultimately, pay no attention to those who put their hate for Trump over their love for America.
Iran going nuclear is not not the issue. The international agencies and US intelligence agreed Iran was not seeking a bomb. Iran pulled out of the regulatory agency when information on their nuclear scientists was used to kill them in June. The goal is to control Iran so we can control their oil. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is not doing the president or anyone any favors by being boastful and sending our troops on hare-brained missions. Iran is still militarily capable and the people are ready to fight. The bombing of schools and over a dozen hospitals has not broken their will, and it is going to survive and not surrender. Another attack on Iran will bring attacks on the emirates and further damage the already broken world economy. Regardless of what happens, the damage is already done that we will have food shortages and a global depression. But maybe a four year global depression is what the administration is trying to achieve. We will not suffer, but other countries will deindustrialize, and we can go in and buy them out. And there will be less mouths to feed. It's that cynical.
Hilarious. Hey ClashFan, we’ve already gone over this… Please stop repeating easily debunked specious Democrat talking points and instead make an effort at fact checking. Do a search for “IAEA Iran not in compliance” or words to that effect and you’ll see your arguments are, again, false. As for controlling oil, why do we need to do that when America is doing fine? If other countries are missing out, have them do their part to escort ships throughout the strait. As for food shortages, remember when Thomas Malthus argued that population grown would outstrip food production? We remember how it never came to pass because technology never stops. And why would we need to buy anyone out to control their oil? Can’t we just take them over, too? Seems you’re attempting to toss everything and the kitchen sink to justify Iran’s 47 year war against the U.S. while demonizing America’s response. Unfortunately, your foundation is based on lies.
TBot, his greatness already told us the program is completely obliterated. Which leaves us with "oil" or "Epstein Files" as the only valid reasons for this war.
For now my money is on oil: the US is spending all that DOGE money on starting wars (Venezuela and Iran) so you can keep driving around with 10 grocery bags for cheap. That is how the whole problem started in 1953.
Eisenhower is responsible for the immense cost of these wars and also "freeways".
eGerd – TBot here. Actually, there are 47 years worth of reasons for the war but don’t let facts get in the way of your tossing things at the wall and hoping something sticks. Spoiler alert – they’re not. As for oil, seems to me that oil is being used so you can keep having just about everything in your life for cheap. You need energy to manufacture stuff, especially your beloved bikes. Without energy from Big Beautiful Fossil Fuels, you’d have no bikes, or “freeways” or your standard of living. You’re welcome. BTW, bicyclists can bike around with 10 grocery bags – as long as they’re only grocery bags and not bags of groceries.
Good uses of oil are in long-distance transportation and plastic. That's about it.
Anyone using oil for energy or short-distance transportation is wasting an expensive and FINITE resource.
I hear in modern manufacturing, they now use 'electricity'. Preferably from cheap and INFINITE sources like wind and solar.
All US wars with Iran have been about oil.
Dwight started the first one because a democratically elected Iranian Prime Minister wanted to nationalize his oil industry - as btw. any good leader would and should do.
eGerd – TBot here. Nice try. Good uses of oil and fossil fuels are in everything, long- or short-distance and anything in between. Because oil and fossil fuels are required to manufacture almost everything in your everyday life. Please remind us how much ‘electricity’ is obtained from wind and solar? And where is the energy coming from to manufacture windmills and solar panels? That’s right, fossil fuels. To borrow from FFGig (who we have heard from recently so I assume he’s okay), “End of discussion. Next.”
It is essential that we destroy Iran's entire under ground nuclear facilities provided to them by Russia as an example to any other nation that would seek to do so. No counter in the word should be allowed to obtain nukes and especially not an unstable theocracy like Iran.
The US had its chance to allow Iran to relinquish its nuclear ambitions and hand over its enriched uranium because Iran was preparing to do so, and a top Omani mediator broke the news on a 2/27, https://www.cbsnews.com/news/full-transcript-omani-foreign-minister-badr-albusaidi/. The next day, the US and Israel assassinated ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a moderate, and his top leaders while they discussed the plan. So we don't want that, we want a government that will allow us to control its oil profits. Which brings us to the world crisis we have now. The myth of Russia, China, and Iran as aggressors that the US is protecting us from is over, and other countries are deciding what to do about the real threat: the US, who is not bound by the rules-based order we helped create and have abandoned, https://michael-hudson.com/2026/04/from-oil-control-to-system-risk/.
