Moncho Camblor, Shelley Frost, J.P. Novic, and Christi Camblor attended the Peninsula Humane Society’s September 23 showing of “Viva Los Perros!,” a documentary of the Camblors’ work saving dogs in Mexico.

PHS/Viva Los Perros!

Fifty people gathered at the Peninsula Humane Society Sept.23 to watch “Viva Los Perros!”, the story of Christi and Moncho Camblor, who founded Compassion Without Borders to reduce animal suffering in impoverished Mexican communities. The Camblors, who have helped save thousands of dogs from the streets, were in attendance and spoke about their undertaking. Also present was J.P. Novic of CAPE (Center for Animal Protection & Education), which produced the film about the Camblors’ work.

In addition to its rescue work, Compassion Without Borders addresses the larger problem of pet overpopulation by organizing numerous “spay camps” in the poorest areas of Mexico. The film shows one such camp where volunteer veterinarians and assistants work tirelessly spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing basic health care for hundreds of animals within a few short days.

The Peninsula Humane Society has assisted Compassion Without Borders by providing shelter and adoption services for dogs brought back from Mexico.
