Masseur gets jail, probation for lewd act
November 03, 2009, 03:40 AM Daily Journal Staff Report

A Foster City masseur accused of inappropriately touching and orally copulating a female client was sentenced Monday to 60 days in jail on two misdemeanor counts of committing a lewd act in public.

LaVarr Anderson, 31, must also spend three years on supervised probation but is not required to register as a sex offender.

Anderson was employed at Massage Envy when, on Dec. 5, a client reportedly told Foster City police he placed his hands over and inside her underwear before pulling them down and performing oral copulation. The woman told police she immediately sat up from the table and Anderson asked if he offended her. Massage Envy management has previously denied comment.

Prosecutors initially charged Anderson to three counts of misdemeanor sexual battery. In late August, he changed his plea on the added lewd act charges in return for the dismissal of the other charges and the promise of no more than three months in jail.

He receives credit for two days against his term, earned before he posted a $30,000 bail bond. He must also pay the victim restitution of $2,601.44.
