San Mateo middle school teacher dies in accident
September 12, 2009, 09:17 PM By Dan McMenamin

A 45-year-old Alameda man died Friday morning after crashing his motorcycle on southbound Interstate 880 in San Leandro, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The three-vehicle crash happened shortly after 7:25 a.m. just north of Davis Street, according to the CHP.

The victim was driving a light blue BMW motorcycle that clipped the left rear of a big rig. The motorcyclist then lost control, struck the right side of a Volvo, and was ejected from the motorcycle, according to the CHP.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Alameda County coroner’s bureau is not releasing the name of the victim because he is a middle school teacher in San Mateo.

His family and the school have asked for his identity to be released Monday so counselors can be available to assist grieving students at the school, according to the coroner’s bureau.
